A glimpse into my work...

Hi i'm Amanda
My work is rooted in vintage botanical illustration and inspired by the quiet language of plants, British folklore, and symbolism. Each design is a gentle reflection of meaning and intention — a piece of nature etched in skin.Alongside tattooing, I’m also a yoga teacher and sound bath facilitator. I mostly teach yin yoga — a slow, introspective practice that encourages stillness and inner awareness. I bring that same calm, grounded energy into every tattoo session, believing the space we create is just as meaningful as the art itself — a quiet ritual, a moment of connection, and a chance to simply be.I’m most inspired when walking through my local Hertfordshire countryside, noticing the wild weeds underfoot — the overlooked plants that tell ancient stories. I’m an avid forager and hobby herbalist, always learning from the earth. These plants are my muses — messengers from the hedgerows, carrying generations of quiet wisdom and healing.I’ve loved drawing for as long as I can remember and always imagined I’d grow up to be an artist. But life took me down a very different path — into a regimented, high pressure career I stayed in for over a decade. It wasn’t until after the birth of my third child that I found my way back — to art, to nature, and to myself. Tattooing, yoga, and walking through the woods became my way of remembering who I truly was. Now, they are at the heart of everything I offer. My tattoo practice is collaborative, intuitive, and deeply personal. I work closely with each client to create a piece that feels true — a visual language of memory, meaning, and intention.I’m inspired by the stories our grandmothers told, the plants growing in forgotten corners, and the quiet rhythms of the natural world that still shape us — if we slow down enough to listen.

Behind the name Nettles Daughter
Nettles Daughter came to me slowly — like something remembered rather than invented.I’ve always felt drawn to the wild weeds — the plants people overlook, or try to pull up. And nettles are the perfect symbol of that: fierce, protective, a little misunderstood… yet rich with nourishment and deep rooted wisdom.Nettles are native to the UK and woven deeply into our folklore and everyday history. They’ve been used as food, medicine, fabric, and even protection. People believed they offered strength, healing, and resilience. In many ways, they were a vital part of our ancestors’ relationship with the land. For me, nettles represent all of the wild flora I’m inspired by. They’re ambassadors of the overlooked — quiet reminders of beauty, usefulness, and power growing just underfoot.Naming my work Nettles Daughter is a way of honouring those plants — and the older stories they still carry. I want that same spirit to guide everything I create: tattoos rooted in symbolism, beauty inspired by the natural world, and a practice grounded in simplicity, reverence, and care.Together, Nettles Daughter means being born of the wild, shaped by the land, and rooted in something ancient and enduring. It’s about letting the weeds lead — and finding the sacred in what grows quietly and freely.
